We have had our dwarf hamster since December. We hold and play with him every day. He rarely bites us, but we have noticed that every few weeks he make burrows, hides his food and burrows under his bedding. And when he does that, he bites us more. Any ideas why? Thanks.
Hi. Thanks for submitting your question. Sounds like you're doing a good job handling the dwarf hamster as often as possible. This is the best way to get them familiar with the human touch. Hamsters will burrow and hide their food by nature so it's best to let them attend to these activities as they require. There will be times when they are done these duties that they will want to explore and be handled. As well, it's best to let them have their rest during the day time as they are nocturnal and will have the best energy for human interaction in the evening. Hope this helps! Cheers, Amy
The reason the burry is because they love to hide food under the bedding and also sleep in it. The bitting it may be because it mean but i do not think so, maybe it is because u had food on your hands and he smelled it and he wanted to taste it all i can say sorry if does not help
