Hi Elin.

Hamsters are great pets but they do require a lot of cleaning up after. Because it's nearly difficult to train them to use the litter box (although I hear it's possible) they do mess up their cage often and you'll need to clean the cage at least once a week to keep it fresh and to keep the hamster healthy.

So make sure you have the time to take care of them. Your parents may also be very busy so it's important that you and your parents work out a plan.

Good luck!

Cheers, Amy

I agree with you Paris - I love my hamsters so much! But I also want to mention that I've been to the SPCA and I've seen people who have thrown away their hamsters... so even though you're a great pet owner Paris, there are others who are not as responsible as you.

Yup. They get the hamsters and then they find out that it's too much work or that they tend to bite and then they just take them to the SPCA (pound) and give them up. I actually heard that some people even just throw them out and give them to the Salvation Army and then they have to bring them to the pound... very sad.

you do not want dwarf hamsters they are WAY too hyper we looked at some at the store and they jump and they fell on the floor they are WAY fast for me You can get them if u do not want to hold them but if you are more of a person that holds hamsters, get a normal not dwarf. One of them bit me too.
